Senate Bill 09-108 was signed on March 2, 2009. It imposes a mandatory late fee of $25-$100. This is not subject to being waived. This late fee is on all expired registrations including temporary permits.
Another part of SB09-108 is an increase in registration fees. This portion of the bill begins on July 1, 2009. It will add an average of $32.00 to your registration fee this year. Next year the fee will be approximately $36.50 (an increase of $4.50) and in 2011 the full fee of $41.00(a $9.00 increase from 2009) will be imposed. This fee is a 'Road Safety Surcharge' and a 'Bridge Safety Surcharge'.
The Weld County Motor Vehicle Department is responsible for vehicle registration, titling and issuing license plates.
